A Fair Losing Its Appeal?

A fair that seems to be losing its splendor as major brands abandon it. The traditional trade fair format struggles to attract the public compared to interactive events where attendees can test products.

Despite this, we discovered several interesting products in Friedrichshafen. As always, here’s an initial overview of the most noteworthy items, with more details coming in the next few weeks.

Bionicon Boga: A Gravel Bike with Bold Colors

While most gravel bikes feature soft and refined graphics, Bionicon takes a different approach. Their latest model showcases bright, striking designs. Made from aluminum, Bionicon’s signature material, it also includes the new Shimano GRX groupset.

Briko: A Helmet with Two Cameras and Radar

Briko introduces its first helmet that complies with European safety standards while incorporating advanced technology. It features two cameras, one in the front and one in the rear, to detect approaching vehicles and alert cyclists with sound.

The helmet streams video to a mobile device, serving as a rear-view mirror. The front camera records footage, acting as a black box in case of an accident. If a fall occurs, the system sends an emergency notification to a pre-set contact.

Centurion: A Blend of Elegance and Performance

Centurion presents an elegant bicycle that stands out in a market where it’s rarely seen in Italy. The top-tier model weighs just 9.9 kg and features a Fox 32 Factory fork, FOX DPS Factory shock, Magura MT8 brakes, RaceFace Next R crankset, Shimano XTR M9100 groupset, and DT XR1501 wheels. The price in Germany is €7,299.00.

Darimo: A 66-Gram Stem from Spain

Darimo, known for ultra-light carbon components, introduces the IX2 stem. Weighing just 66 grams in a 100mm length, it uses only two screws for closure. It’s available in lengths from 60mm to 130mm, with angles of 6º, 12º, 17º, and 25º, and fits 1 ¼” handlebars.

Gaerne G. Sincro: High-Performance Cycling Shoes

Gaerne continues to impress with the G. Sincro shoe, ideal for XC and marathon cycling. It features a stiffness index of 10/12 and is available in both carbon and EPS soles with a Michelin compound for superior grip. The fluorescent orange color adds a bold touch. Weighing 348 grams (size 43), it retails for €339.90.

Look Geo Trekking Roc: A Versatile Pedal

Look expands its MTB pedal lineup with the Geo Trekking Roc. This pedal offers a flat surface on one side and an SPD-compatible clip on the other. It’s an excellent choice for new MTB riders, e-bikers, or cycling tourists switching between cleats and sandals.

A perfect choice also for those who make MTB tourism and go from the shoe with sandal attack to go to the beach.

OutBraker: ABS for MTB

An ABS system for mountain bikes? OutBraker introduces a small hydraulic system designed to function like ABS, preventing wheel lock-up and enhancing control.

Selle SMP VT30: Comfort and Stability

Selle SMP continues its evolution with two new saddles: the F20 and the VT30C. The VT30 retains SMP’s signature open central channel, downward-curved nose, and long rail system. It adds medium padding and a special fabric cover for improved comfort and stability.

The VT30 is a very interesting saddle that maintains all the typical features of SMP, that is the completely open central channel, the nose curved downwards and the trolley very long, but adds a medium padding and with a particular fabric covering to the feel that improves the comfort and also the stability of the biker on the saddle.

Titici Flexy FS: New 2020 Colors

Titici maintains its “Made in Italy” full-suspension design but refreshes its look. The new gray and purple color scheme caught attention at the fair.

Tannus Anti-Puncture Inserts: A Fresh Concept

As tire inserts gain popularity, Tannus offers an innovative solution—not for tubeless setups, but for inner tubes. Their system enhances puncture resistance and improves ride quality.

Even in case of a puncture, riders can continue riding “run-flat.” While heavier than some alternatives, using lighter tire walls offsets the extra weight, adding just 150 grams compared to a standard tubeless system with sealant.
